Delivering on my day job took up so much energy as the Covid years went on and on, that I just let things slip here with the blog. It is lovely to see so many people though still reading some of them - okay, mostly the screen reviews! But I’ve got a bit more time now, and much has happened in the last 3 years that I could write about. I’ve joined a local photographic society (and am even on the Committee these days). Camera clubs have been a source of great debate recently as to whether they stifle creativity so maybe I should offer some thoughts on what I am currently getting out of being a member.
I’ve also achieved my first photographic award - I got my Licentiate distinction with the Royal Photographic Society in September. That was a fascinating experience and one that introduced me to home printing, and the obsessions that can grip you on that front!
Photo equipment has come and gone - I had and then sold a Rollei 35SE. More significantly I may have found the most amazing camera ever for my favoured type of photography, namely the Ricoh GR IIIx. All of the Porto photos seen in the two galleries on this website were taken with that little camera.
And I’ve produced my first Photo Zine which came out of that previously mentioned trip to the incredible city of Porto. The Zine is for sale - see the ‘Prints & Zines’ section for details.
So I think there are quite a few things I can be getting on with writing about! So check back regularly.
